The first day of October held more than just excitement of the upcoming holidays.  At Food Lion, LLC it was the beginning of a new tradition. The first week of October was marked as the First annual Fleet Maintenance Appreciation Week.

Many fleets rightly give recognition to the safety and productivity of their drivers.  But we don't always take the time to acknowledge the importance of professional  maintenance in providing safe, reliable equipment for drivers to use.

Food Lion Fleet Maintenance Associates were recognized through out the company with various activities. At the Salisbury location it was a week long celebration. Each day of the week was named "snack day" where all kinds of goodies were consumed.

The main event was on Wednesday.  A catered lunch was provided for all the Fleet Maintenance Associates.  Each associate was individually recognized and presented with a gift of appreciation.  The gift included a cooler, flashlight, ink pen, mug and T-Shirt all imprinted with the logo:  World Class Fleet Maintenance, Our People Make the Difference.

This was a week to let our associates be recognized for the work they do.  Many times the maintenance staff at any location can be taken for granted, especially if the equipment is running smoothly.  Fleet Maintenance Appreciation week helped us draw attention to the dedicated, talented staff we have in Fleet Maintenance.
