Mr. Navey was followed by Mike Turner and Scott Furr from Cummins Atlantic, who offered information and insights into the natural gas truck power strategy and the benefits fleets realize from converting to natural gas: i.e. compressed natural gas for short haul operations and liquid natural gas for line haul operations.

The final presenter for the day was Mike Flournoy, Regional Account Manager for FleetMatics, a leading provider of GPS fleet management solutions for business.  Mike offered insight into how the utilization of GPS technology can enable businesses to meet the challenges associated with managing local fleet operations and improve productivity of their mobile workforce.  Mr. Flournoy stated that by extracting actionable business intelligence from real-time and historical vehicle and operator behavioral data, the fleet could dramatically lower fuel costs, lower maintenance expense and improved routing efficiency.

After the presentations attendees gathered for a Sponsor Reception and Expo where the following participating council sponsors displayed products and mingled with the guests answering questions and providing background on their companies, products and/or services.

On Sunday morning attendees gathered for the “Officers Installation Breakfast” followed by a presentation by Jackie Taylor, Executive Director of Cars, a non-profit GED Plus™ Apprenticeship Program for high school dropouts that offers career assistance to those wanting to return to school.  The stated goal of the program is to inspire dropouts to get an education, learn a marketable skill and bring that skill back to the community, thus stemming the vicious cycle of poverty that erodes our communities.
